： (Bronze Mirror)
Bronze mirrors were used for giving a reflection of people’s face and clothes in the ancient China, and they also had many other functions, such as decorating the house, driving out the evil spirits, blessing people, and expressing friendly feelings. Bronze mirrors are precious artworks with finely wrought designs and inscriptions decorating the backs of the mirrors. These designs and inscriptions have extensive themes and rich contents, revealing the philosophy, aesthetic taste and social customs of the users and craftsmen in different historical eras. Since the establishment of the Anyang Museum, it has been collecting ancient bronze mirrors via archaeological excavations, purchase, and donation from private collectors. The bronze mirrors in this exhibition are the most precious ones selected from Anyang Museum collection, spanning almost 2,000 years, ranging in date from the Western Han Dynasty to the Qing. These bronze mirrors have beautiful designs, intricate patterns, and exquisite craftsmanship, fully presenting the unique features of the bronze mirrors in different periods.
