： (Gold, Shining Jade, Xi’an)
Gold and jade had a very important place in Chinese history and symbolized morality, personality and culture, transcending the value of their use and aesthetics. Gold bears the meaning of nobility and wealth as well as permanence and honesty, while jade holds the meaning of purity, virtue and beauty. For thousands of years, the culture of gold and jade has been deeply embedded in Chinese material and spiritual life, growing into an important cultural tradition. Xi’an—also called Changan in ancient times—was the capital city of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties and the center of gold and jade culture. Lantian Jade (from Lantian of Xi’an) enjoys enormous popularity. From the vast collections of Xi’an Museum, the selected and spectacular objects demonstrate the glittering luster of gold and jade, and the splendid history of Xi’an—the ancient capital city.
