With the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, the clothing system of traditional Han nationality was restored, following the examples of the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties, into which innovations of the Ming costumes itself were integrated. Different styles for different social classes of people make the clothing system orderly and complete. The exhibition is intended to present the social life of mid-late Ming Dynasty that features “retro”, “bizarre” and “arrogation”. The costumes unearthed from Taizhou tombs cover almost all the styles for every social class in the Ming Dynasty. Section One of the exhibition serves as an introduction to the clothing system of Ming Dynasty. Section Two proceeds to showcase the Ming tombs in Taizhou, structure of the coffins, causes of the immortal bodies, etc. The theme of the exhibition is developed in Section Three— Costumes and decorative patterns of the Ming Dynasty. Section Four displays the techniques of textile printing and dyeing.
